The development of the pandemic situation remains the most important uncertainty factor for the Russian and global economy. It is the pandemic and the differences in vaccination rates that have caused the uneven dynamics of the global economy over the past 6 months. This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the Bank of Russia Ksenia Yudaeva at a press conference, presenting a review of financial stability for the II-III quarters of 2021, according to a transcript posted on the website of the Central Bank.

One of the main risks, according to her, is an increase in inflation associated with a significant excess of demand over supply and a change in the structure of demand, a poor harvest and a record increase in energy prices in the world.

At the same time, temporary factors affecting price dynamics may have long-term secondary effects. Thus, increased inflation may persist for a longer time than previously expected. This is true for both the global and the Russian economy, K. said.Yudaeva.
