MegaFon and Murmansk Region have agreed to develop communications in the Arctic

MegaFon and the government of the Murmansk Region announced a technological partnership at SPIEF 2026. This is stated in the company's message.

Among the priority areas of cooperation is the expansion of coverage on federal and regional transport routes, as well as the introduction of digital solutions to improve safety and management efficiency in the region.

Thanks to the refarming and modernization of the telecom infrastructure, MegaFon provides seamless LTE coverage on the federal highway R-21 Kola. The new telecom equipment is also located in small settlements of the Kovdorsky district. In 2026, it is planned to improve the quality of communications in small villages of the Kola and Kandalaksha districts.

PJSC MegaFon (TIN 7812014560) was founded in 1993 as CJSC Northwestern GSM, and in 2002 it was renamed OJSC MegaFon.

MegaFon is a Russian telecommunications company providing mobile and fixed–line communications, broadband Internet access, digital television, as well as OTT video content, innovative digital products and services. The operator is developing a federal retail network combined with Yota, with more than 79 million customers using the company's services.

MegaFon's net profit for 2025 fell by 8.19% to 41.33 billion rubles from 45.019 billion rubles a year earlier. Revenue increased by 8.15% to RUB 525.6 billion. Service revenue increased by 9.6% to RUB 445.4 billion. The OIBDA indicator amounted to 222.3 billion rubles against 199.26 billion rubles. The subscriber base increased by 1.77% to 79.37 million.
