The Ministry of Agriculture is ready to approve the cancellation of import duties on cane sugar should domestic sugar producers' prices not decrease, as stated by Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev during a Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's briefing with deputy Prime Ministers, according to a transcript published on the Government's website.
The instruments to ensure rapid implementation of such a decision are at hand, the Minister emphasized.
Dmitry Patrushev added that the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Serevice (FAS Russia) were finalizing agreements between sugar producers and retail chains with the aim of reducing retail sand sugar prices. The agreement parameters will have been determined by December 15, with contracts to be signed until December 20.
