Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov held a meeting with recycling companies that recycle fuel oil from the Anapa coast. He also visited a temporary storage facility in the village of Voskresenskoye, where polluted sand is transported from the shore. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The point is open around the clock. Its sanitary standards are constantly monitored by Rospotrebnadzor specialists. Currently, the site contains 115 thousand tons of soiled sand in varying degrees of contamination. The Grokhot installation has been launched at the point, which allows minimizing the disposal of more or less pure sand and disposing of the oil products themselves. The installation sifts up to 3 thousand tons of sand every day. By the end of March, the temporary site should be completely vacated, and the waste should be sent for disposal.
From the temporary site, the contaminated sand is disposed of at two specialized sites in the Krasnodar Territory. They have all the necessary licenses and permits to work with class III-IV hazardous waste. The fuel oil, which was collected from the surface of the water near the stern of the tanker "Volganeft-239", was transported directly to other recycling sites.
The affected areas of the coast will be brought back to normal by the holiday season. In 2026, it is planned to improve the engineering condition at these sites.
The final figures for damage to natural ecosystems will be determined after all the consequences of man-made accidents have been eliminated. Rosprirodnadzor will expose damages to the perpetrators of pollution in court.
