The National Energy Regulatory Agency of the Republic of Moldova has decided to revoke the license for the supply of natural gas from Moldovagaz JSC from September 1, 2025. This was announced by Gazprom.

JSC "Energocom" is given the status of a supplier of public services for the supply of gas to consumers of the republic.

Gazprom, as the largest shareholder and creditor of Moldovagaz, has faithfully and fully fulfilled its obligations for reliable and safe gas supply to the Republic of Moldova throughout the entire period of cooperation, without receiving full payment from Moldovagaz for the supplied gas. As a result, Moldovagaz has a significant debt to Gazprom. In particular, the debt for gas supplied to consumers on the right bank of the Dniester exceeded $709 million. These debts are largely formed due to systematic non-payments by the thermal power enterprises of the public sector of Moldova for the gas supplied by Moldovagaz.

Over the past few years, Gazprom has offered various ways and deadlines for debt settlement with proper legal registration. However, the Government of the Republic of Moldova refused to facilitate the repayment of the debt, preferring instead, in violation of the agreements reached with Gazprom, to exert pressure on Gazprom in order to force the company to abandon its legitimate claims.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova implemented a number of mechanisms that eventually led to the forced reorganization of the Moldovagaz Group, the de facto deprivation of Moldovagaz JSC of the right to freely dispose of its own assets and income, an increase in the purchase price of natural gas, a sharp increase in gas and electricity tariffs for consumers and, as a result, a decrease in the energy security of the republic.

In this regard, the deprivation of Moldovagaz's license to supply gas cannot be considered other than the final stage of the Moldovan side's destruction of the Moldovagaz group's business and the deprivation of Gazprom's investment property. Gazprom will continue to protect its legitimate rights and interests by all available means.

Gazprom (TIN 7736050003) is the world's largest natural gas company.

As of December 31, 2024, the Russian Federation, represented by the Federal Agency for State Property Management, owns 38.37%, JSC Rosneftegaz — 10.97%, JSC Rosgazification - 0.89%.

Gazprom Group's net profit for 2024 under IFRS amounted to 1.219 trillion rubles against a loss of 629.08 billion rubles in 2023. Revenue increased by 25% and amounted to 10.7 trillion rubles.
