Portuguese energy company Galp Energia SGPS SA has entered into an agreement with the Spanish investment company Helia Funds to acquire assets of onshore wind farms in Spain. This is reported in the Galp press release.

The deal, worth 320 million euros ($373 million), includes 17 wind farms that will increase Galp's total renewable capacity to 2 GW in line with the company's strategy aimed at diversifying its portfolio of environmentally friendly energy sources.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.

Galp pays great attention to solar energy, taking into account the integration of wind and battery energy conservation systems to improve operational efficiency. Galp is increasing investments in clean energy, but the bulk of its revenue still comes from oil production and refining.

In December 2025, Galp entered into a license exchange agreement with Total Energies SE for offshore oil production in Namibia.

European energy companies are reviewing their strategies for the transition to clean energy, expanding the use of renewable energy sources, but still rely on oil and gas revenues. Spain has become a key growing market for renewable resources due to powerful sources of solar and wind energy and the absence of strict restrictions on obtaining permits.

Galp Energia SGPS SA is a Portuguese multinational oil and gas company. Galp unites more than 100 companies in the oil and natural gas supply, hydrocarbon production, logistics and retail sectors. The headquarters is located in Lisbon (Portugal). Net profit in 2025 increased by 20% to 1.15 billion euros ($1.3 billion).

Helia Funds is a Spanish investment company in the field of renewable energy sources. The headquarters is located in Madrid (Spain). Helia Funds is funded by investors Plenium Partners and Bankinter Investment.
