RUSAL fired and started the electrolyzer using inert anodes. Previously, RUSAL used conventional carbon anodes in industrial tests of technology for firing and starting electrolyzers, the company said in a statement.

Since now, the inert anode technology developed by RUSAL specialists has completely eliminated the need to use carbon anodes and makes the aluminum electrolysis process completely carbon-free and as environmentally friendly as possible.
