The GDP of the Russian Federation in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 1.3% year-on-year after a decrease of 0.2% in the first quarter. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development with reference to Rosstat.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the economy grew by 0.6% in the first half of 2026.
GDP growth in the second quarter was driven by strong domestic demand and positive dynamics in a number of sectors of the real sector. The growth of consumer activity of citizens continues. Wholesale trade, cargo turnover of transport, manufacturing industries, including the machine-building complex, pharmaceuticals, and the food industry also made a positive contribution, according to the Ministry of Economic Development.
