Russian Railways summed up its contribution to nature in 2025. This is stated in the company's message.
Emissions into the atmosphere from stationary sources decreased by 6%, direct greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 200,000 tons (-2%), contaminated wastewater discharges decreased by 5.6%, water consumption decreased to 57 million cubic meters (-3.9%), four accumulated damage facilities were cleared at Bui, Shadrinsk, Lobnya and Novokastornoe.
As part of the Sakhalin climate experiment, Russian Railways used carbon units for the first time to compensate for excess emissions from the launch of new passenger trains a year earlier.
In 2025, the company was able to keep emissions on the island within 41 thousand tons of CO2 and not exceed the quota.

Russian Railways' RAS net profit for 2025 increased by 1.4% to 14.1 billion rubles from 13.8 billion rubles a year earlier. EBITDA amounted to 984.2 billion rubles with an increase of 16.3%.
