By the end of the year, Russian Railways will reduce emissions of harmful substances from stationary sources by 0.46 thousand tons as part of atmospheric air protection. This is stated in the carrier's message.
The company will also reduce direct and indirect CO2 emissions by 459 thousand tons by saving 548 million kWh of electricity, 51 thousand Gcal of thermal energy, 39 thousand tons of diesel fuel, 8 thousand tons of coal.
In addition, experts will limit the noise impact on the environment by laying a joint-free track for 3.5 thousand km, grinding 1 thousand switches and rails for 27 thousand km, erecting 11 km of noise shields and using noise-absorbing gaskets when attaching rails. Russian Railways will also reduce water consumption by 123 thousand cubic meters.
JSC "Russian Railways" (TIN 7708503727) was established on October 1, 2003 on the basis of the Ministry of Railways. The state owns 100% of the company's shares.
The net profit of Russian Railways holding in 2024 according to IFRS amounted to 50.7 billion rubles against 170.08 billion rubles a year earlier. The reduction is 70%. The total revenues of the holding increased by 9.2% to RUB 3.29 trillion.
Loading on the Russian Railways network in January-May 2025 fell by 7.3% to 465.2 million tons compared to a year earlier. Passenger traffic increased by 2.2% to 507.5 million compared to a year earlier.
