Sapsan trains increase passenger flow by 45.7%

In January-July 2020, the number of passengers transported by Sapsan high-speed trains decreased by 45.7% year-on-year to 1.8 million, Russian Railways informed.

The company notes that the demand for rides by Sapsan trains continues to recover after a slump due to the sanitary-epidemiological lockdowns. In July, Sapsan trains transported 384.3 thousand people. Therefore, the traffic slump decreased to 29.6% year-on-year in July 2019 from more than 62% year-on-year in June.

IFRS net profit of Russian Railways for 2019 increased 4.4 times to RUB 155.738 billion from RUB 35.408 billion a year earlier. Revenue increased by 3.9% to RUB 2.507 trillion from RUB 2.413 trillion. Profit before tax amounted to RUB 193.437 billion against RUB 68.398 billion.
