Sber plans to reduce the carbon footprint of its branches to zero by 2030, the bank informed.
Sber plans to fully offset the carbon footprint of its offices by reducing paper consumption, purchasing new environment-friendly office equipment, recycling plastic bank cards, and reducing energy consumption.
In 2020, Sber already saved 742 million pieces of paper, which is approximately equal to 60 railcars full of paper, with 107 million pcs further saved in the first three months of 2021.
The energy management measures and installation of telemetry systems at the bank's facilities saved RUB 85.8 million due to lower electricity consumption in the first quarter of 2021.
In addition, Sber is implementing across-the-board responsible waste management, with 10 offices and 83 cash collection centers already participating in separate waste collection.
