South Korean chemical company Lotte Chemical Corp. completed the sale of the division in Pakistan, joining the number of multinational companies leaving the Pakistani market. This is reported in Lotte's press release.

Lotte Chemical has sold 75% of Lotte Chemical Pakistan Ltd. shares for 98 billion won (66.9 million) to Dubai-based PTA Global Holding Ltd.

The deal is in line with the company's asset restructuring strategy with a focus on high-margin and specialized businesses. At the same time, Lotte considers the Lotte Chemical Pakistan division as a non-core business, the sale of which will reduce the risks associated with the Pakistani economy and exchange rates, while increasing financial stability.

Recently, Shell Plc, Pfizer Inc., TotalEnergies SE and Telenor ASA have refused to participate in Pakistani assets, selling shares or operations in the business in the same way as other multinational corporations, despite the fact that Pakistan ranks fifth in the world in terms of population. In particular, in October 2025, Procter& Gamble Co. She stated that she plans to exit the Pakistani market, and Azko Nobel Pakistan Ltd. is in the process of selling.

Pakistan is experiencing difficulties after a record wave of inflation, high taxes and devaluation of the national currency between 2021 and 2023 amid ineffective government policies.

Nevertheless, from the point of view of Dubai-based PTA Global Holding Ltd., Lotte Chemical Pakistan has good prospects due to modern technologies, increased energy efficiency and the production of high-quality products for processing.

PTA Global Holding is an investment company founded as a joint venture between Montage Commodities FZCO and AsiaPak Investments. PTA invests in the acquisition of assets for the purpose of capital growth. The headquarters is located in Dubai (UAE).

Lotte Chemical Pakistan is one of the main petrochemical producers in Pakistan. The company produces 500 thousand tons per year of purified terephthalic acid for polyester fibers, PET bottles, etc.

Lotte Chemical Corporation is a South Korean chemical company for the production of synthetic resins and other chemicals with headquarters in Seoul (South Korea). The company is part of the international conglomerate LOTTE and is one of the largest chemical companies in the world in terms of revenue.
