Sparkling wine production in Russia increased by a quarter in 11 months

Sparkling wine and champagne production in Russia increased by a quarter in January–November to 15.8 million compared to the same period in 2023. This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In total, 46.7 million barrels of wine were produced during this period, of which one third were sparkling wines. Sales of the latter increased by almost 11%. The main region where sparkling wines are produced is Krasnodar Krai. Kuban accounts for 7.9 million dal, St. Petersburg - 1.9 million dal, Dagestan — 1.8 million dal.

The grape harvest by the end of 2024 is expected to exceed 800 thousand tons. The area of grape plantations will also increase to 107 thousand hectares, which will create the basis for the further development of viticulture and winemaking in the country.
