It is planned to create a special industrial and production economic zone in the Omsk urban district.
According to Russia's Ministry of Economy, five potential resident companies of this special economic zone named 'Avangard' have confirmed their intention to invest more than RUB 10 billion in the building-up of production of steel structures for the oil and gas industry and a , an industrial complex for the production of graphite electrodes, and a bisphenol A production facility. The SEZ residents will create at least 800 new jobs.
In the urban district of Krasnoyarsk, there are plans to create the Krasnoyarsk Technology Valley industrial and production SEZ as part of the "Yenisei Siberia" integrated investment project. At the moment, confirmation has been received from six potential resident companies intending to invest more than RUB 6.6 billion over three years and to create at least 1,700 jobs. The SEZ is expected to be home to production of industrial equipment for the resource-producing industry and metallurgy, as well as production of items for the aviation and mechanical engineering industries.
33 special economic zones are currently operating in Russia. To date, they have attracted 817 residents with a declared investment volume of RUB 1,091.4 billion, including RUB 445.28 billion already invested, with more than 40,000 new jobs created.
