The 1454th issue of the bulletin "Branches of the Russian economy: production, finance, securities. Electric Power Industry" of the AK&M News Agency.

The volume of electric generation in Russia in January-November 2021 increased by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2020 to 1019.4 billion. kWh. Without taking into account the impact of the February 29 leap year 2020, the production growth for the eleven months of 2021 amounted to 6.9% in Russia as a whole. Energy consumption in the country increased by 5.5% to 997.7 billion. kWh. Excluding the impact of the February 29 leap year 2020, consumption growth in the specified period in Russia as a whole amounted to 6.0%. In November, Russia produced 100.8 billion rubles. kWh of electricity — 6.2% more than a year earlier. Electricity consumption in the country in November amounted to 98.5 billion. kWh, which is 5.0% higher than the same indicator in 2020.

The world's first small modular reactor has been connected to the grid in China. The 200 MW reactor of China Huaneng Group Co. at the first power unit in Shidao Bay is currently supplying electricity to the grid in Shandong Province. The second reactor is being tested before the station is connected and put into full commercial operation in mid-2022. This installation is a fourth-generation high-temperature gas-cooled reactor with a pebble layer, heating helium instead of water to generate electricity. It is capable of offline shutdown in case of a malfunction.

The volume of electricity exports from Russia in the ten months of 2021 increased by 91.7% year-on-year to 18.635 billion. kWh. This is evidenced by the data of the Federal Customs Service. The volume of electricity imports for the same period also increased by 24.1% YoY. According to the operational data of the Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex, exports in January-November 2021 increased 2.3 times compared to the indicator for the same period last year and reached 22.3 billion. kWh. Electricity supplies for export in November 2021 increased 6.5 times in annual terms and amounted to 2.6 billion. kWh. Against the background of the current dynamics, Inter RAO has raised its forecast for electricity exports from the Russian Federation in 2021, expecting it at the level of 21.4 billion. kWh is the highest figure since 2012.

Since the beginning of December, the Wind Energy Development Fund has started commercial operation of wind farms with a total capacity of 478 MW. We are talking about wind farms built in the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions. The Fund's portfolio of implemented projects has increased to 1,078 MW. In the whole country in November, the increase in solar generation in the wholesale market was 2.06% compared to the previous month, and the increase in wind generation was 10.85% m/m.

The EAEU countries will choose a platform for a common electricity market in 2022. Such data was reported to the press by Maxim Bystrov, Chairman of the Management Board of the NP Market Council Association. According to him, a plan of measures aimed at forming a common market has already been approved, synchronized in terms with the formation of a common gas market. At the same time, the common electric power market is supposed to be built by organizing interaction between participants of national markets while preserving the peculiarities of the functioning of each of them.
