The volume of electric generation in Russia in January-March 2023 decreased by 0.5% compared to the same period in 2022 to 320.5 billion. kWh. In March, 104.8 billion rubles were generated. kWh, which is 2.1% more than in the same period last year. Heat production in January-March amounted to 484 million tons. Gcal (+0.5% g/g). Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said that in the four months of 2023, energy consumption in Russia increased by 0.5% compared to the same period in 2022. In general, in 2023, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation expects an increase in electricity demand by 1.3-1.5%.

In the first quarter of 2023, the share of electricity generation by alternative energy facilities in the total output in Russia amounted to 0.47%. The increase in renewable energy generation compared to the first quarter of 2022 was 7.3%, mainly due to wind generation. In the first quarter of 2023, 4 renewable energy generation facilities with a total installed capacity of 84.9 MW were commissioned, with a plan to enter three generation facilities with a total installed capacity of 60 MW, which were commissioned on time. Additionally, in the first quarter of 2023, one generation facility with an installed capacity of 24.9 MW was commissioned with the start date of power delivery in 2021.

The Government Commission for the Development of the Electric Power Industry has decided to build a thermal gas power plant with a capacity of 330 MW using Gazprom's resources. The federal project "Guaranteed provision of affordable electricity" of the Comprehensive Plan for Modernization and Expansion of the main infrastructure for the period up to 2024 has been adjusted. We are obviously talking about a station that Gazprom Energoholding had previously planned to build in Yakutia to cover the deficit in the ECO of the East. The average monthly equilibrium electricity purchase prices on the competitive market in April 2023 decreased by 7.3% in Europe and the Urals compared to the previous month, and increased by 5.8% in Siberia. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the equilibrium average prices in the first energy zone in April were 3.9% higher, and in the second — 23.4% higher. The difference between the average equilibrium price in these two zones in April was 3.2%. Prices in both energy zones were almost equal — the reason was the growth of industrial production in Siberia when electricity exports to Europe stopped. The price dynamics of the past month was relatively flat in both the first and second energy zones — there were no price spikes with a drop of more than 15%.
