The Bank of Russia has extended until April 1, 2023 the restriction on the circulation of some foreign securities blocked by international depositories that were previously withdrawn to non-trading accounts. This decision is aimed at protecting the rights and interests of investors and minimizing their risks, the regulator reports.

In accordance with the regulation of the regulator, Russian depositories must continue to keep separate records of clients' rights to blocked assets. Brokers, in turn, do not have the right to accept and execute orders from clients to make transactions with such securities on the exchange market. At the same time, the owners' ownership of such foreign securities remains.

These rules do not apply to securities of foreign issuers carrying out their main activities on the territory of Russia.
