The Government of the Russian Federation has approved a list of types of aquatic biological resources, obtaining the right to extract which foreign investors will need to pre-coordinate with the Government Commission for the Control of Foreign Investment. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The order applies to making transactions or obtaining decisions under which the investor will be granted the right to extract more than 35% of the total volume of the total allowable catch of these biological resources allowed in a particular fishery basin.
The list contains 47 species of highly demanded biological resources in the Northern, West Siberian and Far Eastern fisheries basins. This includes cod, mackerel, haddock, Pacific herring, halibut, capelin, pollock, Far Eastern flounder, scallop, various types of crabs, shrimp, shellfish.
