The Cabinet of Ministers approved an updated strategy for the development of the automotive industry

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved an updated Strategy for the development of the automotive industry until 2035. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the Cabinet's website.

The key objectives, according to the document, are to achieve a production volume of 2.8 million vehicles in all segments and strengthen technological independence.

One of the main directions of the strategy is the development and support of the automotive components industry. The need to unify the component base is emphasized in order to ensure cost-effective production and supply sufficient to meet the needs of Russian automakers, taking into account the commitment to deepen localization.

Among the main tasks identified are increasing labor productivity in the industry through automation of production processes, the need to secure intellectual property rights for Russian companies and enterprises, and the need to further develop the segment of highly automated vehicles.

The document provides for the formation of a map of technological cooperation in the automotive industry, including using the Institute of General Designers.
