The Russian government has approved a concept for the development of the gas engine fuel market until 2035. This was announced by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The approved concept is aimed at increasing the number of vehicles using gas-powered fuel, creating a modern refueling and service infrastructure, and improving the environmental situation.
The document includes eight segments of vehicles and equipment, the conversion of which to gas-powered fuel will have a significant economic and environmental impact, as well as lead to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. These include automobile, railway, marine and inland waterway transport, agricultural machinery and equipment, municipal and road construction machinery, and specialized equipment designed to perform work in quarries and mining operations.
The concept is based on two scenarios for the development of the Russian gas engine fuel market. The basic scenario is formed taking into account external challenges and instability in the global energy markets. The target scenario provides for more favorable conditions in which the gas engine fuel market will develop at an accelerated pace.
