The Russian government has extended the simplified importation of certain types of electronic devices into the Russian Federation until the end of 2026. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The simplified procedure will affect the procedure for obtaining a notification for the equipment. This is a special document that is required for all electronic devices that support cryptographic capabilities or encryption in any way. These include smartphones, tablets, laptops, computers, microchips, and walkie-talkies.
As a rule, in order to receive notification for the import of such devices or equipment into the Russian Federation, their manufacturer must apply to an authorized organization – the Center for Licensing, Certification and Protection of State Secrets of the FSB of Russia.
The simplified procedure allows for notification by industry associations, including the Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers, as well as the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises.
In accordance with the simplified procedure, the requirements for providing notification information to the customs authorities regarding equipment imported into the country are excluded if such devices are components for the industrial production of equipment in the Russian Federation.
