The Government of the Russian Federation has approved the rules for subsidizing measures to eliminate accumulated damage on Lake Baikal. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Cabinet of Ministers, in particular, approved new rules for subsidizing measures to eliminate accumulated environmental damage, as well as unauthorized landfills. This applies to facilities in the central ecological zone. The regions will receive subsidies under the federal project "General Cleaning" of the national project "Environmental Well-being".
An interdepartmental commission established by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will select projects. Projects will be selected based on an assessment of their effectiveness. The results of the work will be verified by Rosprirodnadzor.
