The Government of the Russian Federation has updated the strategy for the development of the shipbuilding industry. The corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the Cabinet's website.
The updated version of the document provides for an increase in the workload of existing shipbuilding enterprises, the creation of vessels to operate on the Northern Sea Route, and the involvement of highly qualified specialists.
Intensive development of the industry is envisaged. Thus, the utilization rate of existing production facilities is expected to increase to 61% by 2036 and to 73% by 2050. To achieve these goals, it will be necessary to ensure the fulfillment of the state defense order in full compliance with the established deadlines for the creation of ships, as well as to increase the share of the civilian fleet of its own production to 61% by 2036 and to 64% by 2050.
The share of serial vessels produced by Russian enterprises is expected to increase to 50% from 30% of total shipbuilding by 2036 and to 80% by 2050.
By 2036, the number of vessels plying the Northern Sea Route is expected to increase to 51, and by 2050 to 135.
The new version of the strategy provides an up-to-date analysis of domestic and global demand for vessels, as well as expanded planning horizons. They now cover the period up to 2036 and beyond to 2050.
