The Bank of Russia will consider offline payments using digital rubles at a later stage. This was stated by the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, within the framework of Finopolis-2025, according to the telegram channel of the regulator.
Currently, the Central Bank considers priority areas for development such as payments from and to the budget, the development of smart contracts and cross-border payments.
"As for receiving salaries in digital rubles, this is an additional opportunity for people. They will be able to decide for themselves how to receive a salary — in cash, to a non-cash account, or in digital rubles when it is already available. Everyone can make this choice," E.Nabiullina emphasized.
