The Moscow Arbitration Court allowed Alfa-Bank to acquire direct ownership of 15.6% of the Belarusian subsidiary bank, Alfa-Bank CJSC. The newspaper Vedomosti writes about this.
According to the court's decision, the share in the Belarusian structure should be transferred from Cyprus-based AVN Belarus (ABHB) directly to a Russian bank to repay the debt in the amount of 40.2 million Swiss francs.
In November 2025, Alfa-Bank filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Arbitration Court against ABHB and ABHH demanding joint debt collection. The nature of the debt is not mentioned in the case file. In the same month, the court involved the Belarusian Alfa-Bank, as well as the Cypriot structure of ABHH ABH Financial (ABHF), the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia in the case as third parties. In December, the court granted the plaintiff's request to close the trial, and in January 2026, the lawsuit was filed in full.
The essence of Alfa-Bank's requirements to related entities remained unknown due to the closure of the process. But on March 31, 2026, a court ruling appeared in the file of arbitration cases on correcting typos in the operative part of the decision. "Paragraph 3 should read as follows: "To foreclose on the share of AVNV in the capital of Alfa-Bank CJSC in the amount of 15.56% in favor of [Russian] Alfa-Bank JSC will repay the debt by transferring the specified share to Alfa-Bank JSC," it says.
