The volume of the external debt of the Russian Federation as of January 1, 2022 amounted to $478.2 billion, having increased by $11 billion over the past year. This is evidenced by the materials of the Bank of Russia.

The foreign debt of public administration bodies decreased by $2.5 billion as a result of a reduction in investments of non-residents in sovereign securities.

The external debt of banks has increased by $7.7 billion since the beginning of the year, largely due to the attraction of funds from non-residents in the framework of interbank transactions.

Foreign debt obligations of other sectors have decreased by $15.3 billion due to the reduction of external debt in the form of loans attracted, including within the framework of direct investment relations.
