The Social Efficiency Rating has been published by the AK&M Rating Agency since 2018. The purpose of the rating is to show companies that bring maximum benefit to society with minimal impact on the environment and to find a balance between the load of enterprises on the environmental environment and their positive impact on society.

Any industrial enterprise operates in market conditions and is a business unit, has its own owners. In large corporations, these are usually shareholders. The purpose of the company's work is to extract maximum profit for its shareholders. However, all enterprises are located on a specific land. They are not isolated from the territory, the subsoil, from air and water, but, on the contrary, actively use these resources, ensuring the profitability of production.

On the other hand, people work at enterprises, receive salaries there and use, if available, corporate social security. Enterprises pay taxes and other mandatory payments to the regional and federal budgets, thereby supporting state institutions. Charity, support for culture and sports make a significant contribution to the development of public infrastructure.

The result of the rating was a ranked list of companies built on the basis of an assessment of the social efficiency of the company's activities. It was calculated using two groups of indicators:

- the social effect of the activity (the amount of payments to the budget, for charitable purposes, environmental protection costs, payments to employees taking into account the labor force involvement coefficient)

- environmental loads (volume of air, water, solid waste pollution, adjusted for the level of waste toxicity)

The result of the calculations is an indicator - the social efficiency of the company's activities (the ratio of the indicator of the social effect to the indicator of the load on the environment).

By ranking companies according to the final indicator, a rating of social efficiency was built.

To compile the rating, the agency used open data of companies for 2020 – annual reports, reports on sustainable development, consolidated financial statements, as well as data obtained from the organizations themselves through questionnaires.
