The Lotos Shipyard compensated for the damage caused to the Volga River: more than 1.38 million rubles were transferred after the court decision. This was reported by Rosprirodnadzor.
Earlier, during an inspection of the Volga and its tributaries in the area of the city of Narimanov (Astrakhan region), experts recorded an excess of permissible concentrations of pollutants in the bottom sediments near the berthing wall. It was established that a shipbuilding company operates in this area.
Rosprirodnadzor calculated the amount of damage, but the violator refused to compensate it voluntarily. The Arbitration Court of the Astrakhan Region recognized the claims as justified and ordered Lotos Shipbuilding Plant JSC to pay compensation.
The funds will be used for environmental protection projects and activities.
