The number of self-employed in Moscow has exceeded 2.1 million

As of August 1, the number of professional income tax payers in Moscow exceeded 2.1 million people — more than 15% of the total number of self-employed registered in Russia. This was stated by Maria Bagreeva, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, head of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of the city, the department said in a statement.

Their total income for the entire duration of this tax regime in Moscow, from January 1, 2019, amounted to almost 1.9 trillion rubles, M.Bagreeva emphasized.

The most popular types of activities for the self-employed, who indicated them at registration, are passenger and freight transportation, delivery, rental of apartments, advertising and marketing, as well as construction.

Over the seven months of 2025, the capital's professional income tax payers issued more than 188 million checks to customers, 2.5 times more than in January-July 2024. The average size of the check at the end of July 2025 was 2.85 thousand rubles.

In January-July 2025, the self-employed transferred 11.8 billion rubles to the Moscow budget, which is 48% more than in the same months of 2024. Over the entire period of the tax regime, the capital's budget has received over 51 billion rubles of professional income tax, the deputy mayor noted.
