Rostec's energy waste management company has processed 1 million tons of municipal solid waste unsuitable for recycling into 620 million kWh of electricity in 1.5 years. This is stated in the company's press release.
Thanks to the project, greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere have been reduced by more than 1 million tons. At the same time, processing 1 ton of waste into energy prevents 1.2 thousand kg of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to planting 7 million trees.
The Rostec plant has been operating in Voskresensk, Moscow Region, since the end of December 2024. It reached full capacity in March 2025. During this time, the company has accepted more than 33 thousand road trains with waste.
The company uses grate combustion technology (waste-to-energy) with a multi-stage gas purification system. The combustion temperature is 1260 C.
