The share of non-cash transactions in retail turnover decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 88.4% in the second quarter of 2026. This was announced by the Bank of Russia.
This is due to the fact that citizens paid more in cash in April-June than in the first quarter. Thus, the growth rate of non-cash turned out to be slightly lower than the growth rate of cash.
At the same time, people continued to actively use non-cash payment methods for purchases and services. Many people prefer alternative maps. Their share in the total volume of non-cash payments increased by 0.2 percentage points to 15.1% compared to the first quarter.
The use of QR codes and biometrics has increased most noticeably. During the quarter, 1.1 billion purchases worth 1.7 trillion rubles were made with their help — an increase of 18% in number and 13% in volume than in the previous quarter.
Bluetooth payment is gaining popularity, the regulator noted. In the second quarter, people performed 86 million such operations worth 64 billion rubles. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of transactions increased by 30% and the volume by 17%.
In general, during the reporting period, bank customers — both citizens and companies — performed 32.1 billion transactions worth 491.5 trillion rubles. Compared to the first quarter, the growth was 9.9% in terms of the number and 12.8% in terms of the volume of transactions.
