The Federation of Trade Unions of the Netherlands (FNV) intends to hold a public and railway transport strike on September 9. This is reported by foreign media.
The deal is aimed against the government's plans to reform the social security system, which includes reducing benefits and raising the retirement age. As a result of the strike, train traffic throughout the Netherlands will be suspended.
The strike will also affect international trains and flights to Belgium. Despite concessions from the government, the unions decided not to cancel the protest.
