The volume of communication services provided to enterprises of all types of activities in November 2021 increased by 5.2% compared to November 2020, and compared to October 2021 - decreased by 1.3%, amounting to 198.1 billion rubles. This is stated in issue No. 1457 of the monthly bulletin "Branches of the Russian economy: production, finance, securities. Connection" dated January 26, 2022.

In just 11 months of 2021, the volume of communication services amounted to 2,094.1 billion rubles, which is 7.7% higher than the result of January-November 2020. Revenues from communication services in Russia in January-September 2021 increased by 2.7% compared to a year earlier to 1,290.1 billion rubles. At the same time, revenues from mobile communications increased by 11% to 337.8 billion rubles.

The volume of the telecommunications market in 2021 exceeded 1.8 trillion rubles. According to preliminary data of TMT Consulting, the annual market dynamics amounted to 3.2% — this is one of the highest indicators in recent years. The main growth factor was the recovery of the mobile communications market. At the same time, in such significant segments as fixed broadband Internet access and pay TV, there is a slowdown in dynamics: the growth rate of the subscriber base decreased after connections during the self-isolation period of 2020, and the increase in tariffs was local.

The number of mobile subscribers (active SIM cards) in 2021 increased by 3.3% to 259 million, approaching the level of 2019 (260 million). Penetration was 178%. In absolute terms, the subscriber base has grown by 8 million — this is the highest figure in the last 5 years. This growth was facilitated by the easing of the self-isolation regime, which provided an influx of visitors to communication salons, as well as a partial recovery in the number of migrant workers. By the end of 2021, about 83% of Internet traffic in Russia accounted for mobile devices, which is 2 percentage points more than a year earlier, according to a study by SlickJump analysts. This result turned out to be a record.

In 2022, the growth of the mobile market will continue due to the continued return of subscribers, analysts believe. However, its dynamics may be negatively affected by the Federal Law 533-FZ, which came into force on December 1, regulating the turnover of gray SIM cards, according to which all corporate subscribers are required to register them on the portal "Public Services". Otherwise, operators must disconnect them from providing services until the moment of registration.
