The volume of industrial production in the Russian Federation in January 2026 decreased by 0.8% year-on-year after a 3.7% increase in December. This is reported in the materials of the Ministry of Economic Development, which explains the change in industrial dynamics largely due to the calendar factor.
The manufacturing sector contracted by 3% in January, following a 7.8% increase in December. A positive contribution to the dynamics of manufacturing industries was made by the machine-building complex, whose output growth rate was 3.4%.
Production of the metallurgical complex decreased by 6.4% in January after an 18% increase in December. Chemical industry output decreased by 1.6% after rising by 1.2% in December.
The mining sector showed an increase of 0.5% in January, after a 2.8% decline in December.
