TMK has developed a technology for labeling pipe products using QR codes that can be read even in the presence of damage thanks to a proprietary neural network algorithm. The first batch of labeled products has been delivered to the customer, TMK said in a statement.
Digital labeling is required to identify each pipe and track it throughout its life cycle. This information is necessary for comprehensive service support of pipe products from transportation and descent into the well to its maintenance, repair and decommissioning. Unlike traditional alphanumeric labeling, QR codes are more durable. Standard factory markers are used for their application, and TMK has developed its own application for reading and working with information, which has a built-in neural network algorithm capable of restoring the code in case of damage.
The software is installed on a smartphone or personal computer and allows you to see the full product passport, quality certificates for it, as well as perform pipe accounting operations in a system that is synchronized with existing inventory management programs. The solution can be used without a network connection (offline), which is important for field operations. The developer of the technology was TMK-Premium Service, a member of TMK.
The first batch of pipes with QR codes was produced, labeled and shipped by the Volga Pipe Plant (VTZ), part of TMK. It includes casing pipes with threaded connections TMK UP PF. In the future, it is planned to expand this practice and apply QR codes to products at other plants of the company.
TMK is a supplier of steel pipes, pipe solutions and related services for various sectors of the economy. TMK manufactures threaded pipes, special pipes, pipeline systems and other products. TMK shares are traded on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
