The French energy company TotalEnergies SE has signed long-term contracts for the supply of solar energy to Google LLC data centers in Texas. This is reported in the TotalEnergies press release.
As part of the deal, Google will receive up to 1 GW of solar energy from two Wichita and Mustang Creek projects for 15 years. The construction of the stations is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026. At the same time, the Wichita project with a capacity of 805 MW of peak generation and Mustang Creek with a capacity of 195 MW will provide a significant part of the needs of Google data centers in the region.
The agreement includes two long-term contracts for the purchase of renewable energy for Google data centers in several U.S. energy markets. Texas is one of the key regions in the United States for the development of solar energy and attracts significant investments.
The deal is aimed at strengthening TotalEnergies' position in the renewable energy segment amid growing interest from large technology corporations. At the same time, the agreement is in line with Google's strategy to decarbonize operations and provide energy supply for the rapidly growing data processing infrastructure.
The partnership of the parties to the deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation of energy and technology companies in order to develop sustainable energy and data centers, taking into account the growing demand for computing power.
In 2025, Google announced plans to invest $20 billion jointly with Intersect Power and TPG Rise Climate in the creation of carbon-free power plants to provide electricity to data centers in the United States.
