Traffic on the bridge over the Tumannaya River has been launched on the border of Russia and the DPRK. This was announced by the Russian Government.
The start of construction work was given on April 30, 2025.
The bridge will ensure the launch of direct automobile communication between the two countries. It is connected to the Ussuri federal highway, which is part of the West—East international transport corridor. The length of the bridge crossing is almost 5 km, and the bridge itself is about 1 km. There are 2 lanes for cars. In addition, an automobile checkpoint across the state border has been built, designed for 300 vehicles per day.
The bridge is named after Yakov Novichenko, an officer of the Red Army and a Hero of Labor of the DPRK. On March 1, 1946, he saved North Korean leader Kim Il Sung from a grenade thrown from a crowd during a rally of thousands.
