Transneft Upper Volga connects Surgut-Polotsk section

Transneft Upper Volga JSC has connected the reconstructed section of the Surgut-Polotsk oil trunk pipeline. The section had been under reconstruction in a number of districts of the Mari El Republic since October 2019, the company informed.

19.51 km of the linear part of the oil trunk pipeline were replaced, a station of shut-off valves, automation and telemechanic equipment, electrochemical protection and engineering security appliances installed, other works carried out. The section is expected to be put into operation in November 2020.

Transneft-Upper Volga, JSC is a subsidiary of PJSC Transneft. Its principal activities include the intake and transportation of crude oil and petroleum products via main oil pipelines and oil product pipelines to refineries in Central Russia and for export.

The oil and oil product trunk pipelines of Transneft Upper Volga (Surgut-Polotsk, Gorky-Yaroslavl, Yaroslavl-Moscow, Ryazan-Moscow, Gorky-Ryazan, Almetyevsk-Gorky, Gorky-Novki, Novki-Ryazan, Vtorovo-Yaroslavl, Ryazan-Tula-Oryol, circular oil product pipelines) stretch through 13 subjects of Russia, crossing some of the largest waterways of the country (the Volga, Oka, Sura, Klyazma, Moskva rivers), with a total length of oil more than 6,000 km (measured by single strings).
