Revenue of VimpelCom (the Russia business division of VEON Ltd.) for the first half of 2020 decreased by 6.2% to RUB 132.971 billion from RUB 141.801 million, according to information from the company.
The service revenue in the mobile segment decreased by 7.1% to RUB 103.942 billion from RUB 111.926 billion, EBITDA by 14.6% to RUB 53.917 billion from RUB 63.106 billion. Revenue in the fixed-line segment increased by 8.9% to RUB 18.562 billion from RUB 17.046 billion.
Total revenue in the second quarter of 2020 amounted to RUB 65.5 billion decreasing by 9.7% year-on-year. The closure of borders with the aim of curbing the spread of coronavirus caused a collapse in revenue from international roaming services (almost -90% for the quarter) resulting, combined with a 8.4% subscriber base contraction, in a 9.8% slump in the mobile service revenue (RUB 51.4 billion), partly mitigated by an 8.9% increase in the fixed service revenue. As a result, the ARPU indicator in the reporting period decreased by 4.6% to reach 332 rubles.
