Vladimir Putin signed a law on limitation periods for disputes over the privatization of property

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the introduction of limitation periods for disputes on the privatization of state and municipal property. The law is posted on the Internet portal of legal information.

In accordance with the law, in court disputes on privatization, the limitation periods established by the Civil Code of the Russian Federation and the rules for calculating them will be applied: 3 years from the moment of detection of a violation. In any case, the limitation period may not exceed 10 years from the date of disposal of the property.

At the same time, these rules do not apply to the seizure of property in anti-corruption and anti-extremist lawsuits.

The law also puts an end to the legality of previously acquired assets on the basis of privatization transactions — through market transactions, with the approval of government agencies, banks, and antimonopoly structures, the Ministry of Economic Development believes.
