VTB Bank intends to exit agricultural business

VTB Bank intends to exit the agricultural business and focus on core business activities. The head of the bank, Andrey Kostin, stated this at the Data Fusion forum, Vedomosti newspaper writes.

According to him, a competition is already being prepared for a key asset in the Krasnodar Territory, and there are many applicants.

Answering a question about VTB's interest in grain trader Rodnye Polye, A.Kostin noted that the bank has no such interest.

At the same time, the bank is getting rid of other non-core assets. "We have already sold two hotels, we are still selling assets, in general, we are trying to sell all non-core ones," he added, noting the focus on 2027.

In the fall of 2023, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, the assets of the Pokrovsky agricultural holding were transferred to the Federal Property Management Agency. In 2024, VTB gained control of part of them through the purchase of Labinsky. At the same time, the possibility of consolidating additional assets in the Krasnodar Territory, including land and infrastructure, was considered.

Previously, VTB's portfolio included Demeter Holding, which combines assets in the field of grain export logistics. The holding was sold to investors in 2023.

VTB Group is a Russian financial group comprising more than 20 credit and financial companies operating in all major segments of the financial market. The Group has subsidiaries and associated banks in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, a branch in India, and a branch and representative office in China.

VTB Group's net profit under IFRS for 2025 amounted to 502.1 billion rubles.

On November 20, 2024, the AK&M rating agency awarded VTB Bank's sustainability reporting the highest rating.

On July 31, 2025, the AK&M rating agency confirmed the highest rating of VTB Bank's non-financial statements.
