VTB Bank has replaced the import platform for processing data used in interaction with government agencies. Now all the information preparation processes for Russian ministries and departments are running on the domestic Arenadata DB software. This is stated in the message of the bank.
"Query processing performance on the Arenadata DB cluster increased by more than 6 times, which allowed the bank to respond more quickly to requests from federal executive authorities," said Nikita Rybchenko, Senior Vice President, Head of the Department for Technological Development of VTB's General Banking Systems.
The platform covers all the client operations of VTB Bank and its affiliated banks, processing requests from foreign financial institutions throughout Russia. The system is built with the requirements of reliability and security in mind: information is stored in several data centers, which allows it to be restored in the event of a failure.
During the project, 22 data storefronts with a volume of more than 70 terabytes, containing over 400 billion records, were transferred. This accelerated the processing of requests and improved the quality of the information provided.
"The completion of the project was an important step in strengthening the bank's technological independence and improving the effectiveness of cooperation with government agencies. The introduction of an import—substituted solution has not only improved data quality, but also significantly accelerated query processing," said Galina Maslova, Deputy Head of the Business Operations Department and Senior Vice President at VTB.
VTB's import substitution project for data storefronts for interaction with FOI had previously won first place in the GlobalCIO Project of the Year competition in the Analytics and Big Data category.
