Assembly of vacuum unit for testing Orel spacecraft near completion

Industrial Technologies, a company engaged as the contractor for the Center for the operation of ground-based space infrastructure (part of Russia's Federal Space Agency / ROSCOSMOS), is completing the assembly of the vacuum unit housing at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The vacuum unit is designed to be used for leak testing of units, systems and compartments of spacecraft and manned transport vehicles. Being 9 m in diameter the vacuum unit weighs more than 130 tonnes. The vacuum unit and the launch duct for the Angara space rocket system launch complex were delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome using the Northern Sea Route in September 2020.
