Hundreds of families of indigenous Yamal residents underwent a comprehensive health check — specialists from Russia's leading clinics came directly to the tundra. Gazprom Neft has organized Arctic medical examinations in various parts of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: from the villages of Yar-Sale and Novy Port to reindeer herders' camps near Russia's northernmost oil field under development, Vostochno—Messoyakhskoye.

The medical examinations started before the main national holiday of the peoples of the North — Reindeer Herder's Day, which traditionally attracts tundra workers from all over Yamal. Within two weeks, the participants of the medical examinations could receive an initial consultation, undergo examinations and discuss the results at a repeat appointment.

Gazprom Neft invited doctors of various specialties, including cardiologists, pulmonologists, endocrinologists and rheumatologists, to the Arctic. Pediatricians with experience in the North came to examine the youngest residents of Yamal. During the winter months, modern medical equipment was delivered to remote villages — a mobile X-ray laboratory, a mammograph, portable ultrasound machines, a spirometer and other equipment.

Gazprom Neft has been conducting Arctic medical examinations in Yamal for the fourth year. They help families of reindeer herders who live far from cities and rarely see doctors to undergo a full examination. All the results have been transferred to local polyclinics, where doctors will continue to monitor the health of tundra workers.

"Since the launch of the Arctic medical check-up program, over a thousand Yamal residents have become participants. Timely check-up helped some of them identify risk factors in time, saved their health and even their lives. Therefore, we intend to continue and expand the practice of medical examinations for the indigenous people of the Far North."
Viktor Sorokin, Head of Gazprom Neft's Industrial Safety Department

"We strive to ensure that modern medicine is accessible to every resident. In the Year of Health in Yamal, we, together with Gazprom Neft, continue to work to ensure that high-quality diagnostics come directly to the tundra, to nomadic families. Field medical examinations have proven their relevance — they help to detect diseases at an early stage and send patients for treatment on time. Such initiatives show how partnership with businesses can improve the quality of life for people in the Arctic."
Irina Novoselova, First Deputy Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug
