Gazprom Neft has received a license for the geological exploration of the Tursky subsurface area in the Purovsky District of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The license was issued for a period of 5 years.
The land area is 337 km2. In the future, the new asset with a potential of 10 million tons of oil will be included in Gazprom Neft's production cluster, which includes Novy, Sugmutsky, Vostochno-Pyakutinsky and Extreme sites.
The territory of the Tursky site is poorly studied, however, proximity to the infrastructure of the company's existing fields will speed up the exploration work. The new field closest to Turskoye, which has been producing since 2024, has a similar geological structure. 3D seismic surveys are planned at both licensed sites, and the data obtained will help form a program for further asset development.
"The expansion of the license portfolio in the Yamalo—Nenets Autonomous District is an important step towards building up the resource base in one of Gazprom Neft's key regions. Thanks to the introduction of modern technologies and digital solutions, we have significantly increased the efficiency and accuracy of 3D seismic exploration, which will help identify new oil and gas deposits and form a program for the development of a mining cluster."
Yuri Masalkin, Director of Geological Exploration at Gazprom Neft
"The study of the Tursky site will allow us to expand our presence in the southern part of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Several decades ago, our predecessors already conducted geological exploration in these territories: according to available information, the resource base may include Achimov, Jurassic and Cretaceous strata. After carrying out high-quality exploration work, we will be able to form a detailed program for the development of a new mining cluster in the south of Yamal."Please note that this press release is based on materials provided by the company.
