A new resident of the Buryatia priority development territory will focus on the construction of a 100 MW data center. The project was initiated by Bitriver-B (operating as part of BitRiver Group, the operator of a network of major data centers). The company is ready to invest about RUB 900 mn in a specialized facility where it will install equipment for information processing and connecting subscribers to Internet channels under an agreement with JSC Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.

"The project implementation will enable our group of companies to strengthen our footprint in the data center market and to at least double our capacity," Igor Runets, founder and CEO of Bitriver-B LLC, commented.

To recap, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on expanding the Buryatia priority development territory in December 2020 for implementation of this project.

"The launch of such a project will help generally improve the digital culture in the region," Igor Dorofeev, President of the Association of Data Center Industry Participants, commented.
