Details of the thermal control and power supply system of Rostec State Corporation ensured the effective functioning of the Iranian spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth "Khayyam". The satellite is equipped with ultra-light frames of solar panels, radiators and thermal control system panels created at the ONPP "Technology" named after A.G. Romashin. They will provide high-quality power supply to the device and stable thermal operation of the onboard equipment.

Significant weight reduction while maintaining the strength characteristics of the structures was achieved through the use of composite materials and advanced assembly technology. Thus, the radiator of the thermal control system has become 10% lighter compared to previous analogues, and the weight of a square meter of the solar cell frame is only about 400 g.

The use of special Obninsk thermal control panels, which, along with the function of maintaining a stable temperature regime, simultaneously perform the function of the satellite body, also made it possible to increase the weight efficiency.

"The Khayyam spacecraft is a project of great importance for cooperation between Russia and Iran in the space sphere. And for Rostec, it is also significant because Khayyam became the 70th spacecraft launched into orbit with components of the ONPP Technologiya. The engineering and technical solutions applied by our specialists in the implementation of the Iranian project have confirmed their reliability during the operation of domestic satellites of the Arctic, Canopus and others series. The company will continue to develop in this direction – this year it is planned to increase the volume of high–tech products produced for domestic cosmonautics by 30%," said Andrey Silkin, General Director of ONPE Technologiya.

ONPP Technologiya has been providing the space industry with high-tech products made of composite materials for more than 40 years. Over the past year alone, the company has produced more than 250 high-tech products for launch vehicles, spacecraft for interplanetary and near-Earth research, reusable spacecraft "Eagle".

The Khayyam spacecraft, launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on August 9, 2022, was placed into the target orbit and began transmitting the first data. The satellite was created by Russian enterprises commissioned by Iran. The tasks of the spacecraft will include monitoring and surveying the Earth's surface.
