The heads of government of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union signed an agreement on electronic trade in goods in the EAEU. The document lays down a common legal framework for e-commerce in the Union, ensuring transparency and fairness of regulation for businesses, as well as effective consumer protection.
"Such an international agreement is necessary to create a predictable environment aimed at developing electronic commerce and maintaining freedom of movement of goods throughout the Union, as well as to prevent possible barriers," said Andrei Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission.The agreement is primarily aimed at ensuring respect for the rights and legitimate interests of participants in mutual electronic commerce, as well as defining the rules of interaction between them, and establishes, among other things, requirements for the pre-trial settlement of disputes between participants in electronic commerce, the terms and conditions for the refund of funds, as well as the conditions for the return of goods, in particular, sets out a single 14-the one-day period for the return of goods of proper quality.
In addition, approaches to the use of electronic document management in electronic commerce within the EAEU are defined, as well as ensuring data protection and information security, requirements for advertising newsletters are fixed, and a register of goods that are prohibited or restricted for sale via the Internet in the countries of the Union in accordance with their legislation is envisaged.
