These changes are a priority for the Member States in the customs sphere. They will help settle a number of problematic issues related to the application of the Customs Code, simplify and speed up the passage of goods through the customs border of the Union, establish the specifics of customs operations for certain categories of goods.
Such issues, in particular, are the procedure for moving containers across the customs border, the implementation of transit and cabotage transportation, the application of customs procedures of a customs warehouse, a free customs zone and a free warehouse.
After discussing some issues that have not yet been fully agreed upon, the members of the working group approved the direction of the first comprehensive Protocol on amendments to the Customs Code of the EAEU for legal examination and then for internal approval.
The Working Group on Improving Customs Regulation in the Eurasian Economic Union was established by Order of the EEC Board No. 125 dated September 15, 2020 to discuss and make decisions on conceptual issues of improving customs regulation in the EAEU that require implementation in international treaties regulating customs relations within the Union
